This famous park is situated on the famous “Mason-Dixon Line”, the historic border between the old “North and South”. It is the area where President Abraham Lincoln dedicated a cemetery for the soldiers who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg, perhaps the most influential battle of the American Civil War. The 3,500 acres of the Gettysburg National Military Park has long been a beacon of American history for everyone around the world.

Just a short drive away is the home to one of the world famous candy makers. The area of Hershey, PA is built upon the accomplishments and deeds of Milton S. Hershey, maker of the world famous Hershey chocolate. Today it is also home to Hershey Park, Hershey’s Chocolate World, Zoo America and many more family attractions.

Adams County Historical Society is often referred to as the “county’s attic”, an archive and museum preserving the rich cultural heritage of Adams County, Pennsylvania. It’s open to members and visitors in search of county history, past relatives and more. They archive a significant collection of county records, personal documents, business records, and photographs.

The theater shows a multimedia presentation of the crucial three days of the Battle of Gettysburg and the events leading up to it and offers a diorama depicting scenes from the battle. There is a gift shop and restaurant onsite.

Jennie Wade House, 548 Baltimore Street Gettysburg, PA 17325, (717) 334-4100

The popular and historic Jennie Wade House was made famous by the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg during the summer of 1863. Jennie Wade was the only civilian killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. The house remains virtually the same as it did back then and evidence of the battle can still be seen as bullet holes on the house.

This attraction features over 1,000 model trains from many countries, dioramas illustrating the role of the railroad during the Civil War and a simulated ride with President Lincoln to Gettysburg where he dedicated the cemetery in honor of the soldiers that fought and died there.

A showcase of the Civil War, this museum displays a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from not only the Civil War, but also from other American conflicts. It slso features beautifully crafted miniature dioramas of the major conflicts of the Civil War as well as a life-size, narrated Confederate Encampment.
